After three years of research, in 1999, Wantai, in collaboration with Xiamen University, was the first company to introduce and market China-made third generation HIV 1+2 ELISA kit. We were able to express highly immunoreactive HIV protein, which is the milestone of the development of the first Chinese third generation HIV ELISA assay.

Ever since than, Wantai has been playing a strategic role in the market for HIV diagnostics and currently supplies or has been supplying its recombinant HIV antigen to many others Chinese and foreign IVD manufacturers. Wantai's HIV diagnostic reagents have been experiencing dynamic growth in sales due to the recognition that the kits will not only be a powerful weapon for prevention and control of HIV, but also will play a key role in completely blocking the spread of the disease.
